New energy needs proven and reliable communication tools

Much has been changed in production, transport, control and metering of energy. The liberalization of regulation and the response to climate alterationwith the change to alternative energy sources are accelerating the changes.

This is well documented by the example of one of the largest energy companies in the world, the French Electricity de France (EdF) and many German energy distribution network operators.

The presentation outlines communication solutions for the blackout case and the network-oriented control of power distribution networks. In both countries. It also discusses whether smart meters (or "smart metering systems") can be or can't be or can be just in a hybrid environment an adequate solution for many challenges.
